Roland Donath

Roland Donath (* 1960 in Duisburg ; † March 1998 ) was a German law scholar and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school in Friedberg (Bavaria) , Donath studied law at the University of Augsburg from 1980 to 1987 . In 1989 there his doctorate Dr. iur. with the work The split of the business - Basic tax law problems - Selected questions of company and group law. He then studied in the USA , first at the University of Wisconsin – Madison , then at the University of Texas at Austin , where he received a Master of Comparative Jurisprudence . A scholarship from the German Research Foundation , he was in 1995 with the work of succession and inheritance tax as kohäentes System - A Comparative Study on the conformity of inheritance and inheritance tax ratings at Augsburg University habilitated .

In 1995 he followed a call to the University of Halle on the Chair for Civil Law , Commercial Law , German and International Tax and Business Law .

Donath died of cancer less than three years after his appointment.

Focus of work

Donath mainly dealt with insurance law and tax law . In these areas he tried to point out grievances and to counter them. Donath was also committed to establishing an international exchange for students.
