Roland Gabriel

Roland Gabriel (born June 12, 1947 in Saarlouis ) is a German business IT specialist .

Life

Gabriel studied economics and computer science at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, completed a postgraduate course in Operations Research (MOR) at RWTH Aachen University , and did his doctorate and habilitation at the University of Duisburg . 1983 and 1984 he worked for research work at IBM . This was followed by teaching commitments as a professor at the Universities of Duisburg , Marburg , Bielefeld and at the EBS University of Economics and Law in Oestrich-Winkel . Roland Gabriel has held the chair for business informatics at the Faculty of Economics at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) since 1989 . He is a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Corporate Management (ifu), member of the board of the Institute for IT Security HGI and director of the Institute for Security in E-Business and the data center at the Ruhr University Bochum (until May 2014). He is also head of the Competence Center E-Commerce at the ifu, the Ruhr Competence Center Business Intelligence (RuCCBI) and the Competence Center eHealth Ruhr (CCeHR). Gabriel has been retired since August 1, 2014, but continues to work in research.

Gabriel’s research focuses on information management , management support systems , data warehousing , business intelligence , e-commerce , e-business , security in e-business, e-learning , learning service engineering, e-health and social media .
