Roland Sauer (politician)

Roland Sauer (born July 27, 1939 in Stuttgart ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After completing secondary school at the Karlsgymnasium in Stuttgart, Sauer did an apprenticeship as typesetter and studied at the Stuttgart Art Academy for eight semesters. From 1962 he worked as a freelance graphic designer. From 1972 to 1975 he was represented in the diocese of Rottenburg and chairman of the supervisory board of the Mein Heim housing association .

In 1955 Sauer became a member of the CDU. From 1968 to 1980 he was a member of the Stuttgart City Council and deputy chairman of the parliamentary group there. From 1980 to 1998 he sat in the German Bundestag , where he was the drug policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. He represented the Stuttgart I constituency as a directly elected member.

In 2009 Sauer founded the Breakfast for Children Association . Many children come to school in the morning without breakfast. The association wants to change this situation; in addition, he offers a free breakfast at ten focal schools in Stuttgart. Around 520 children take part in this simple but balanced breakfast.
