Roland Totheroh
Roland "Rollie" Totheroh (born November 29, 1890 in San Francisco , California , † June 18, 1967 in Hollywood , Los Angeles , California) was an American cameraman .
Life
Prior to his film career, he was a cartoonist for a San Francisco newspaper and an amateur baseball player. In 1910 he was hired by the production company Essanay as a cameraman.
Roland Totheroh was Charlie Chaplin's cameraman for his films for over 35 years . Their collaboration began in 1915 and ended in 1952 when Chaplin left Hollywood and the United States. Then Totheroh retired.
His brother Dan Totheroh (1894-1976) was a screenwriter and his son Jack Totheroh (1914-2011) played in several films as a child and later worked as a teacher.
