Rolando Gutierrez Andaya, Jr. (born March 10, 1969 in Manila ) is a Filipino politician .

biography

Andaya's grandfather Tomas Andaya was already politically active and in the 1960s mayor of the municipality of Ragay in the province of Camarines Sur. Andaya's father Rolando Andaya was a member of the Congress (Batasang Pambansa) from 1984 to 1986 during the last two years of office of President Ferdinand Marcos and then from 1987 to 1998 a member of the House of Representatives .

After attending the Elementary School of De La Salle University in Manila and Perryton High School in Texas , Rolando Andaya Jr. studied economics at De La Salle University from 1987 to 1991 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSEcon) major Law. He then completed postgraduate studies in law at Ateneo de Manila University , which he completed in 1995 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). He then began his career as an employee for hearings ( Hearing Officer ) in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the State Commission on Securities and Exchange Commission .

In 1998 he finally began his political career as a member of the Lakas-CMD (Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats) with the election to the House of Representatives of the Philippines . In this he represented the electoral district I (1st District) of the Camarines Sur province as the successor to his father .

On February 5, 2006, he was appointed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as Secretary of Budget and Management to their cabinet , of which he was a member until the end of her term in 2010.
