Rolando Laserie
Rolando Laserie (born August 27, 1923 in Santa Clara , † November 22, 1998 in Coral Gables ), called El Guapachoso , was a Cuban singer.
Lasarie began his musical career as a drummer and played timbales in Havana in Beny Moré's La Banda Gifsante . He also worked for Radio Progresso, where he appeared for the first time with Tony Álvarez and Olga Chorens as a singer with Bebo Valdés ' radio orchestra and made numerous recordings with the orchestra of Ernesto Duarte Brito .
After Fidel Castro came to power , Lasarie fled Cuba, settled in Mexico in 1960 and in Miami in the mid-1970s, and became an American citizen. He only recorded music there sporadically and last appeared in 1996 with Israel "Cachao" López . Lasarie was considered an important interpreter of Son Cubano , but his repertoire also included styles from Guaracha to Salsa to Tango . Titles such as Mentiras Tuyas , Los Cuarenta , Negrura , La Negra Tomasa , Obsesión , Yo Soy el Son Cubano , Sabor a Mí and Lágrimas Negras became known .
