Rolf Felix Müller

Rolf Felix Müller (born July 22, 1932 in Lobenstein ) is a German graphic designer and illustrator .

Rolf F. Müller completed an apprenticeship in lithography from 1948 to 1950 , then studied from 1952 to 1957 at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HGB). After his studies he lived as a freelance artist in Gera , he worked primarily as a poster painter and in this role designed various theater posters, in addition to taking on book designs and book illustrations. Today Müller is considered to be one of the pioneers for the establishment of so-called commercial graphics in the GDR , as graphic design was called. In 1959 he was awarded the Gera City Art Prize, the Gera District Art Prize in 1964 and the GDR Art Prize in 1973 .

In 1985 he returned as a lecturer at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, where he taught as a professor from 1993 until 1997. Müller is considered to be the creator of the " Golden Sparrow ", the symbol of the Gera Children's Film Festival.

He is the father of the illustrator and art professor Thomas M. Müller .
