Rolf Gutbier

Rolf Gutbier (born August 26, 1903 in Erlangen ; † September 26, 1992 in Aichtal- Aich) was a German architect , urban planner and university professor .

Life

Gutbier studied architecture at the Technical University of Stuttgart and worked in Germany and Switzerland. In 1936 he became an assistant to Hugo Keuerleber at the Institute for Technical Development and Design at the Technical University of Stuttgart. In 1948 he became full professor for settlement and design . From 1953 to 1955 Gutbier was also rector of the university. In 1970 he retired .

Works

Gutbier belonged to the second Stuttgart school and helped shape the reconstruction of the state capital Stuttgart in the post-war period. Important works included a. the high-rise with exhibition and museum building of Daimler-Benz AG in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim (1961; with Hans Kammerer , Walter Belz ), Chamber of Industry and Commerce (1952–1954 with Rolf Gutbrod ), the college building I (KI) (1956–1960 ; with Günter Wilhelm, Curt Siegel ) and the Kollegiengebäude II (K II) (1960–1964; with Günter Wilhelm, Curt Siegel) of the Technical University of Stuttgart and the Süddeutsche Rundfunk (1968–1976; with Rolf Gutbrod).
