Rolf Hoffmann (born February 4, 1937 ) is a former German football player who played 15 games in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football , for SC Chemie Halle-Leuna in the 1950s . In 1956 he won the GDR Cup with the SC Chemie.

Athletic career

Hoffmann played his first league game on April 17, 1955 for SC Chemie Halle-Leuna in the penultimate game of the 1954/55 season. He played as a left winger for one half before being replaced by Günter Imhof . After the end of the season Halle had to relegate to the GDR league . In autumn 1955 a transition round was played in all leagues in GDR football, which served to change the rhythm of the calendar year. In the GDR league, the SC Chemie had to complete 13 games, and Hoffmann was used in all matches. He was able to score five goals. In the 1956 GDR league season with 26 games, Hoffmann was only used ten times and with his one goal he only played a small part in the immediate resurgence of Halle-Leuna. In the surprising GDR Cup victory with a 2-1 victory over ZASK Vorwärts Berlin at the end of the 1956 season, Hoffmann came into the team in the 84th minute. Even in the 1957 league season, Hoffmann was only able to play half of the point games with 13 appearances. In the first half of the season he played as a left winger eight times. In the second half of the season he was used in five other league games, and in total he scored three goals this season. 1958 was Hoffmann's last league season, he was only used once.

Instead, he was called up from the second half of the season on with the 2nd team of SC Chemie eleven times in the second-rate GDR league. Since the first team was relegated to the GDR league again at the end of the season, the second team from the GDR league also had to relegate. For this reason, she was affiliated with the HSG Wissenschaft Halle and continued to play under its name in 1959 with Hoffmann in the third-class, 2nd GDR league .

Rolf Hoffmann left the HSG before the end of the season and joined the second-class BSG Wismut Gera , where he played a league game in 1959. He stayed in Gera until the end of the 1961/62 season (due to the return to the summer-spring rhythm of 39 game days), but could not play a full season. Of the 65 GDR league games played in this period, he played only 43 games in which he scored seven goals. In the summer of 1962 Hoffmann ended his career as a competitive athlete and joined the fifth-class BSG Empor Halle as a recreational footballer .
