Rolf Kahnt (born February 21, 1945 in Geringswalde ) is a German politician of the alternative for Germany . Since January 18, 2019, he has been the age president of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

Kahnt studied business administration and education. He worked as a teacher at a comprehensive school and a grammar school as well as in teacher training in Hesse for several decades. Kahnt has been a member of the Hessian AfD since 2013 . Since May 2013 he has been AfD district chairman in the Bergstrasse district. Since 2016 he has been a member of the city council of Bensheim and the district council of the Bergstraße district and is chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the district council.

In the Hessian state elections in 2018 , he ran for position 15 of the AfD in constituency Bergstrasse II and moved as a member of the Hessian state parliament . As senior president, he opened the newly elected Hessian state parliament and called for an end to the “exclusion” against politically dissenting people.

Kahnt is married, has a daughter and lives in Bensheim-Auerbach .
