Rolf Kunisch

Rolf Kunisch (born April 19, 1941 in Bad Arolsen ; † September 20, 2018 in Frankfurt am Main ), was CEO of Beiersdorf AG from 1994 to 2005 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1960, Kunisch began studying industrial engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt that same year , which he graduated with a diploma in 1966 . The university awarded him "the academic price for outstanding performance in the main diploma examination of the academic year 1965/66". Then he was the administrator of a research assistant position at the University of Cologne . In February 1968 he was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD.

In 1968 he joined Procter & Gamble and worked for the group in several responsible positions in Germany, the Netherlands, the USA and Eastern Europe until 1990. In 1991 he was appointed to the executive board of Beiersdorf AG in Hamburg, where he was responsible for the cosmed division until 1994. In 1994, he succeeded Hans-Otto Wöbcke as CEO of Beiersdorf AG. In these 11 years, Beiersdorf was able to more than triple its stock market price and avoid a takeover attempt. Organizationally, new successful structures were created with the outsourcing of tesa GmbH and the establishment of BSN plc.

After retiring in 2005, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Beiersdorf AG, which he left prematurely on his 70th birthday at his own request.

Rolf Kunisch was a member of the supervisory board of Lufthansatechnik AG, Hamburg-Mannheimer Versicherungs AG, Euler-Hermes Versicherungs AG and the advisory board of August Oetker AG.

He was married to the chemist Irmgard Gold-Kunisch, with whom he had three daughters.
