Rolf Löckmann

Rolf Löckmann (born November 10, 1942 in Wuppertal - Wichlinghausen ) is a German photographer and monument protector .

Life

Rolf Löckmann studied industrial design at the Folkwang School in Essen and worked from 1972 to 1977 as the head of the photography training center at the Wuppertal cityscape. From 1978 to 1979 he was a lecturer in the design department at the Bergische Gesamtthochschule in Wuppertal , and from 1976 to 1982 he also worked as a theater photographer at the Wuppertal theaters .

In 1977 he was awarded the Von der Heydt Culture Prize for his photographic work . Further awards for his publications followed. He was best known for his documentary recordings of dilapidated houses and endangered monuments in Berlin and Wuppertal , and since 1974 he has been involved in numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad.

His interest in historical buildings is not limited to their detailed photographic documentation. He organized the relocation of seven historic Wuppertal residential buildings, for which he was awarded the Michael Metschies Prize in 2006. In addition to photography, he is also active in the field of design. For example, he designed a figure of the penguin .

Rolf Löckmann lives and works in Wuppertal- Küllenhahn .
