Franz Horak

Franz Horak (born July 31, 1927 in Salzburg ; † August 16, 2010 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian legal historian and specialist in Roman law .

He completed his habilitation in 1969 at the University of Innsbruck under Arnold Herdlitczka with a paper on reasons for making decisions in Roman law ( Rationes decidendi , Aalen 1969). In 1971 he was made associate professor and in 1973 full professor of Roman law. In 1995 he retired . In addition to his habilitation thesis, Franz Horak wrote numerous essays, reviews and encyclopedia articles on Roman law.
