The Political Institute was created in Zurich in 1807 to train lawyers and politicians. With the establishment of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in 1833 (from 1912 University of Zurich ) the Faculty of Political Science began its work. In 1969 it was divided into a legal and an economics department. The Faculty of Law emerged from this in 1992.
