Hans Caspar von der Crone (born January 18, 1957 in Zurich ; legal domicile in Zurich and Basel ) is a Swiss legal scholar . He teaches as full professor for private and commercial law at the University of Zurich .

academic career

Hans Caspar von der Crone was born as the son of Hugo von der Crone, who later became Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse . He attended primary school and grammar school in Zurich, which he graduated with a type B Matura , before starting to study law at the University of Zurich in autumn 1976 . In 1982 he obtained the title lic. iur.

In addition to his doctorate in 1988 with Arthur Meier-Hayoz and his habilitation in 1992, he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Yale Law School in 1990 . In 1995 von der Crone was appointed associate professor for private and commercial law at the University of Zurich . In 1997 he was promoted to full professor.

practical activity

Von der Crone was admitted to the Zurich bar in 1988 . He was an employee and partner at Homburger Rechtsanwälte and founded the law firm of Crone Rechtsanwälte (now Crone Rechtsanwälte AG) in 1997. He has held various board memberships, including at Heineken Beverages Switzerland AG (until 2016).

From 1999 to 2005 von der Crone was President of the Swiss Takeover Commission . From 2002 to 2008 he was a member of the university management of the University of Zurich , from 2002 to 2006 as Vice-Rector for Planning, from 2007 to 2008 as Vice-Rector for Law and Economics. He is a member of the editorial board of the Swiss Journal for Business and Financial Market Law (SZW).

Von der Crone is the author of numerous articles on private and commercial law , as well as a series of decision-making discussions that began in 2013 and appears six times a year.
