Alain Griffel

Alain Griffel (born December 12, 1962 in Zurich ) is a Swiss legal scholar .

Life

Griffel graduated in law in 1987 with the licentiate at the University of Zurich , and was then assistant to Walter Haller , in which he also with a dissertation on "The protection of fundamental rights in the army" doctorate . After working as a legal secretary at the Horgen District Court , the Higher Court and the Zurich Commercial Court , he was admitted to the bar in 1994 . He then worked in the legal service of the Office for Building Permits and the Health and Environment Department of the City of Zurich and as head of the office of the building course commissions of the Canton of Zurich . In 2005 he was a professor of Heads of State and Administrative Law with emphasis spatial planning , construction and environmental law chair at the University of Zurich, where he previously supported his four years habilitation "The basic principles of Swiss environmental law" the Venia legendi was issued.

Griffel's publications include a textbook on environmental law (together with Heribert Rausch and Arnold Marti ). He also reports annually on developments in spatial planning, building and environmental law in the njus.ch series .

Griffel has also made repeated comments on current political events, for example against an initiative by the Zurich FDP , which wanted to partially abolish the right of association complaints , and on dealing with popular initiatives that are contrary to international law and unconstitutional.
