Oliver Diggelmann
Oliver Diggelmann (born August 30, 1967 in Bern ) is a Swiss legal scholar and professor of international and constitutional law at the University of Zurich . In 2017 he published a novel ("Maiwald").
Life
Oliver Diggelmann grew up in Zurich . After graduating from high school in ancient languages, he studied law in Zurich, Bern and Cambridge ( Trinity Hall ) and received his doctorate in 1999 under Daniel Thürer with a dissertation on international law on Max Huber and Georges Scelle . In 2004 he completed his habilitation at the University of Zurich with a study on the consequences of globalization for the state and democracy.
From 2004 to 2010 Diggelmann taught at Andrássy University in Budapest , where he was also the dean of the Faculty of Comparative Politics and Law from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, the University of Zurich appointed him to the chair for international law , European law , public law and state philosophy . Since 2011 he has been the executive director of the Institute for International Law and Foreign Constitutional Law . In 2009 he was visiting professor at the University of St. Gallen and in 2013 at the Hebrew University Jerusalem . Research stays took him to Berlin , Berkeley , Yale and Cambridge.
In 2006 he worked for several months as a personal assistant to Luzius Wildhaber in Strasbourg, who was then President of the European Court of Human Rights .
Oliver Diggelmann writes regularly in the Swiss public media on issues of international law and state policy, including a. Neue Zürcher Zeitung , Tages-Anzeiger , Das Magazin , and appears on Swiss television (SRF) as an expert on international law.

novel
The novel Maiwald about the enigmatic suicide of a renowned psychiatrist is set in the media environment of the years after the turn of the millennium. Flashbacks lead to the protest and occupation scenes of the late sixties and eighties. The book was described by the former editor-in-chief of the Zürichsee-Zeitung Ulrich E. Gut as a “gripping, profound psychodrama and image of society” .
