Ruth Arnet

Ruth Arnet (also Ruth Arnet Gantner ; born March 14, 1962 ; resident in Aarau , Grabs , Dagmersellen and Entlebuch LU ) is a Swiss lawyer . She has been Professor of Private Law at the University of Zurich since 2011 .

After studying law in Zurich (lic. Iur. 1987), Ruth Arnet obtained the Aargau advocate's license in 1988 and the notary's license in 1994. In 1993 she did her doctorate with Walter R. Schluep with a dissertation on the subject of “Die Formmarke” . Based on her habilitation thesis “Freedom and Coercion in Conclusion of Contracts” , the University of Basel granted her the Venia legendi for private law and commercial law in 2005 . With effect from February 2011, she was appointed to succeed Heinz Rey as full professor for private law with a focus on property law at the University of Zurich.

At the suggestion of the CVP , the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau elected Arnet in a competitive election in 2008, breaching the voluntary party proportional representation, with 77 out of 134 votes as a full-time judge at the higher court. In 2009 she was confirmed for the 2009-2013 term with 127 votes out of 130. Since 2013 she has been a substitute judge at the judicial court of the canton of Aargau.
