Matthias Oesch

Matthias Oesch (* 1972 ) is a Swiss lawyer .

Career

education

Oesch grew up in St. Gallen .

From 1978 to 1992 he attended primary and cantonal schools in St. Gallen ( Matura type B ). In 1992 Oesch moved to Bern . He then studied law at the University of Bern until 1999 and became an advocate , best qualification of 30 candidates ( magna cum laude ). He then completed an LL.M. degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science with a specialization in Public International Law until 2000 . From 2000 to 2002 Oesch wrote his dissertation on “Standards of Review in WTO Dispute Resolution” at the University of Bern and graduated with a grade of 6 ( summa cum laude ), for which he was awarded the Professor Walther Hug Prize in 2004.From 2005 to 2008 he completed his habilitation on “Differentiation and Typification: On the Dogmatics of Legal Equality in Legislation” at the University of Bern.

Matthias Oesch has lived in Zurich since 2012 .

Since 2013 Oesch teaches as Professor for Public Law , European Law and International Economic Law at the University of Zurich ( professorship ).
