Ulrich Häfelin

Ulrich Häfelin (born March 26, 1924 in Winterthur ; † May 2, 2016 ) was a Swiss legal scholar .

Life

Häfelin received his doctorate in 1953 under Zaccaria Giacometti at the University of Zurich, where he also completed his habilitation in 1961 . The subject and title of both writings was The Legal Personality of the State . In 1963, the University of Zurich appointed him assistant professor . In 1969 he was appointed associate professor , in 1972 professor . In 1990 he retired .

Between 1959 and 1961, Häfelin advised the government and the highest court in the Kingdom of Libya and was co-founding director of the Institute for International Law and Foreign Constitutional Law at the University of Zurich. After his retirement, he advised the newly established law faculty of the Czech University of Olomouc on study issues and the establishment of the law library.
