Emil Brunnenmeister

Emil Brunnenmeister (born May 5, 1854 in Kreuzlingen , † January 22, 1896 in Vienna ) was a lawyer and professor in Zurich, Halle, Vienna.

Life

After attending grammar school in Constance, Emil Brunnenmeister studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen ; at the University of Leipzig he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD . He then worked at the Göttingen University Library . In 1878 he completed his habilitation in criminal law, criminal law and civil procedure law at the University of Basel .

In 1879 he was appointed professor at the University of Zurich , in 1882 he switched to the professorship for criminal law and civil procedural law at the University of Halle and in 1889 he moved to the University of Vienna .

Act

Emil Brunnenmeister became known as a criminal law reformer, as did his colleague Franz von Liszt from Halle . He was also a renowned legal historian. He published several works on medieval and ancient criminal law.
