Hans Nef

Hans Nef (born November 3, 1911 in St. Gallen ; † January 6, 2000 ) was a Swiss legal scholar .

life and work

Hans Nef studied at the University of Zurich and received his doctorate there in 1936 under Dietrich Schindler . In 1941 he completed his habilitation with a legal-philosophical treatise on equality and justice at the University of Zurich. In the summer semester 1946 he became a full-time extraordinary professor of philosophy of law , state and administrative law appointed at the University of Zurich. From 1952 until his resignation in 1982 he was full professor. From the summer semester of 1976 to the winter semester of 1977, he was also the rector of the University of Zurich.

From 1967 to 1970 Hans Nef chaired the board of trustees of the Swiss National Science Foundation . Nef was a founding member and president of the Switzerland- Liechtenstein Society . He was a substitute judge at the Supreme Court of the Principality of Liechtenstein .
