Kurt Siehr

Kurt Siehr (born July 28, 1935 in Tilžė ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

He attended schools in Tilsit, Hohenems , Hamburg-Harburg and Buxtehude . After studying law in Hamburg and Ann Arbor , he passed the first and second state exams in Hamburg. After obtaining a Master of Comparative Law (MCL) doctorate in Ann Arbor in 1963 and a Dr. iur. In 1970 in Hamburg he was a research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg from 1963 to 1991. After completing his habilitation at the University of Zurich in 1980, he was a private lecturer , associate professor and professor of private law, comparative law and private international law in Zurich from 1981 to 2002. Since 2002 he has been a freelancer at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg.

His main research interests are international private law, comparative law and art law.
