Andreas Bertalan Black

Andreas Bertalan Schwarz (born February 17, 1886 in Budapest ; † September 11, 1953 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German legal scholar.

Andreas Bertalan Schwarz studied law in Bonn , Leipzig and Budapest . In 1908 he received his doctorate. jur. at the University of Leipzig. His habilitation followed there in 1912.

Schwarz was a private lecturer from 1912 to 1920 and then an associate professor for Roman and civil law at the law faculty of the University of Leipzig until 1922 . From 1922 to 1926 he held another position as associate professor for comparative law and Roman law at the law faculty of the University of Leipzig. This was followed by the first position as full professor for Roman law and civil law at the University of Zurich from 1926 to 1930 . From 1930 to 1932 he was appointed full professor at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau for the same subjects . In 1932/33 he held the same position at theUniversity of Frankfurt am Main .

After the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933 he was released and emigrated to Turkey, where he became a full professor at the University of Istanbul. After the end of the war he was visiting professor at the University of Freiburg.
