Karl Friedrich Ludwig Löw Freiherr von und zu Steinfurth (* December 12, 1803 in Weilburg ; † May 17, 1868 in Wiesbaden ) was a university lecturer, Nassau judge and member of parliament.

Ludwig Löw von und zu Steinfurth came from the Wetterau noble family Löw von Steinfurth . He was the son of Oberzeugmeister, Oberjägermeister and Councilor of State Friedrich Philipp Löw von und zu Steinfurth (born January 26, 1755 in Staden ; † October 12, 1841 in Weilburg) and his wife Dorothea Wilhelmine, nee Freiin von Canstein (born March 20, 1760 in Kassel ; † March 2, 1825 in Weilburg).

Ludwig Löw von und zu Steinfurth, who was a Protestant denomination, married Emilie born Roux on April 24, 1832 in Heidelberg (born October 11, 1808 in Jena , † December 19, 1872 in Wiesbaden), the daughter of the painter and university professor Jakob Wilhelm Roux and his first wife Pauline. Ludwig Löw von und zu Steinfurth attended the Weilburg high school and from 1820 studied natural sciences and law at the universities of Göttingen and Heidelberg . At the University of Heidelberg he was awarded a Dr. jur. doctorate and taught as a private lecturer .

From 1833 to 1840 he was professor of law at the University of Zurich . In 1935 he was rector there. In 1840 he became court judge in Dillenburg , later in Usingen . In 1841 he was appointed chamberlain . From 1846 to 1848 he was a school clerk in the government of the Duchy of Nassau .

In 1848 he became chairman of the criminal court in Usingen and in 1849 court judge at the court and appellate court in Usingen. After the court was moved back to Wiesbaden, he was court judge at the court and appeal court in Wiesbaden from 1849 to 1859 . In 1859 he became its director. In 1861 he became a judge at the Wiesbaden Higher Appeal Court , where he was President from 1864 to 1866. From 1862 to 1866 he was a member of the State Council. In 1867 he was retired.

In 1852 he was a member of the first chamber of the estates of the Duchy of Nassau as the representative of Archduke Stephan of Austria .
