Rolf Majcen (* 1966 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) is an Austrian lawyer , author and extreme athlete .

Life

Majcen is a great-nephew of the former General Troop Inspector Karl Majcen . He received his doctorate from the University of Graz as Dr. iur. From 1985 to 1998 he served as an officer in the Austrian Armed Forces .

He published in domestic and foreign legal journals on national and international fund law and sports law. He also wrote reports in sports and alpine magazines. His book Sieg in den Bergen , published in 2002, was the first book in the world to document ski mountaineering as a competitive sport and received recognition from the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA).

In 1993, Majcen completed his training as a flight rescuer and as an army mountain guide with the Austrian Armed Forces , continued his education in the following years and was accepted into the armed forces training team in 1995. He himself took part in various sports in competitions in 29 different countries in Europe, Asia and America and was successful in World Championships, World Cups and European Cups. He was the first Austrian to take part in the three most important ski mountaineering competitions in the Alps ( les grandes trois de ski de montagne ), the Patrouille des Glaciers (2000 and 2004) of the Pierra Menta (2001) and the Trofeo Mezzalama (2003). In 2004 he and Hermann Kofler were the first Austrians to achieve World Cup points in ski mountaineering for Austria. In the Alps, the Andes and Africa he made various mountain climbs and won the "Major Stairclimb" title in stair climbing at the CN Tower Run-Up in Toronto . He climbed numerous high alpine mountain peaks and took part in various climbing tours, ice climbing routes and mountain running competitions.

Majcen worked for Allianz-Elementar Versicherungs AG, was a capital market lawyer in the legal department of GiroCredit Bank AG der Sparkassen and head of the legal department at Erste-Sparinvest Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH, a subsidiary of DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale . He is currently a member of the management of FTC Capital GmbH, whose Legal and Compliance Officer in the area of alternative investments he had previously been.

He is also a director on the administrative board of an open-ended investment company consisting of several sub-funds and was a board member of the Vereinigung Alternative Investments (VAI) from November 2006 to September 2007 . Since October 2011 Majcen has also been a member of the board of the Association of Foreign Investment Companies in Austria. He currently lives with his family in Teesdorf .

    • 7th place "International Vlado Tatarka Memorial Race ", Hrebienok (with Hausmann )
    • 16th place and best placed Austrian team in the European Cup ski mountaineering team (with Hausmann final ranking 16th place). space
  • 2004:
    • Lower Austrian champion in ski mountaineering
    • 6th place at the International Turnosmučarski Rally, Triglav National Park (with Hausmann)
    • Austrian record and 7th place in the class ranking at the Patrouille des Glaciers (with Kofler and Johann Wieland )
  • 2005: Lower Austrian ski mountaineering champion
  • 2006: first Austrian in the Adamello Ski Raid (with Hausmann and Morgenbesser )
  • 2007: Lower Austrian champion in ski mountaineering

Flight of stairs

On February 20th, 2014 Rolf Majcen celebrated 19 victories in 91 flights of stairs in 3 continents (America, Europe, Asia). The Lower Austrian climbed a total of 49 different structures worldwide.
