Rolf Oberliesen (born February 20, 1940 in Paderborn ) is a German educational scientist and professor emeritus for work didactics and technology didactics at the University of Bremen .

Life

Oberliesen completed a telecommunications training course. From 1962 to 1965 he studied to become a teacher at the Paderborn University of Education and worked as a teacher and head of department in various schools in East Westphalia with a focus on natural sciences as well as work and technology until 1980 . He completed a postgraduate course at the University of Paderborn / University of Paderborn and received his doctorate in 1977 with a study on the relevance of cybernetic sciences for curricular developments at the Pedagogical University of Westphalia-Lippe , where he worked as a university assistant. He has been married to the teacher Ulrike Oberliesen since 1966.

In 1980 he was appointed professor for educational science and technology didactics at the University of Hamburg . There he worked with Wolfgang Schulz in the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Education on reform concepts for teacher training. From 1995 he taught and researched until his retirement (2005) as professor for work teaching didactics at the University of Bremen , where he (1996) founded the Institute for Work-Oriented General Education (IAAB).

He is a member of the German Society for Educational Science (DGfE), worked on the advisory board of the Forum Computer Scientists for Peace and Social Responsibility (FIfF) (since 2002) and on the board of the Society for Labor, Technology and Economics in Education (GATWU) for over 25 years With. As co-editor of a didactic magazine (work and learning, later: teaching: work and technology, in Friedrich-Verlag) he supported (1985-2001) in particular the didactic dialogue between practice in school and teaching and academic teacher training.

Focus

In the 1990s, Oberliesen developed a large number of curricular drafts and tests of didactic concepts for a sustainable school as basic information technology education (ITG), partly on behalf of and in cooperation with state institutes for schools and teaching in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hamburg and Bremen. At the same time, he moderated the design and evaluation of the curriculum and education plans for work, technology, economics / industrial studies (1977–2007) in these federal states.

With the help of numerous publications, he influenced the conception of work-oriented technical education, with the focus on the social disposition of technology. A learning approach based on the history of technology turned out to be an indispensable learning path for an emancipatory educational concept. In-house research on the history of technical information processing was carried out, which found its way into national and international specialist discussions. These also played a decisive role in the scientific justification of the cultural-historical representation of information technology in the newly founded Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum , Paderborn (1992–1995): also as a specific contribution to a design-oriented education within the framework of technology-political dialogues about the future of industrial societies. For many years he moderated an interdisciplinary curricular discussion process related to work-oriented education, also in the context of the more recent debate about educational standards, documented in a competence-oriented core curriculum draft for the learning field of work-household-technology-economy (2007) and designed (together with Klaus Bönkost) a corresponding textbook research for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research . Together with Gerhard H. Duismann, he developed scenarios of work-oriented general education in 1995 in the challenge of reshaping the education system East-West, which he evaluated in 2017 for a reform structure package, a “Reform Initiative 2030” and expanded for discussion together with Hermann Zöllner (2018).

In cooperation between German universities and developing countries, he moderated the cooperation between the University of Hamburg and the Universidad Nacional de Nicaragua (UNAN), León (Nicaragua) (focus: qualification of lecturers, 1989–1995) and the University of Bremen with the University Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) ), La Paz (focus: development in the field of university management). In the development dialogue with the UMSA, he worked in La Paz (Bolivia) from 2008 to 2010 as a consultant for university development within the framework of the Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and decisively influenced the design of the dialog transnational and intercultural qualification programs (postgraduate programs) in university cooperation (south-south-north).

For Latin America from 2000 to 2012, together with Ulrike Oberliesen, he used the example of Bolivia to carry out a historical comparative study of the conditions and concepts in the development of work-oriented technical basic education concepts in countries of transformation (results were published in cooperation with the World Council of Associations for Technology Education (WOCATE) and the Leibniz Society of Sciences, Berlin) and together with Paola Carrasco Alurralde comparing the living and working conditions of students under conditions of social and economic transformation. From 2000 to 2005 (together with David Mora) he participated in relevant policy consultations, especially in Venezuela and Bolivia, and together with David Mora (2018) examined the change in the understanding of education in Latin American countries under the conditions of social and economic transformation.
