Rolf Schmitt

Rolf Schmitt (born December 16, 1942 ) is a former German handball player and coach.

Life

Coming from Rostock , Schmitt began studying at the German University of Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig in 1962 . The 1.78 meter long circle runner and left winger joined the handball team of the SC DHfK Leipzig , with which he won the European Cup in 1966 under coach Hans-Gert Stein . He played handball not only in the hall, but also on the large field and dealt with field handball in his work presented in 1967 at the end of his studies at the DHfK . Schmitt, who was known for his quick start, also ran in the 100-meter athletics sprint relay of the SC DHfK.

After graduating, Schmitt moved to Magdeburg . There he worked, among other things, as a handball coach, worked for SC Magdeburg between 1976 and 1980 and was responsible for the overall development of the various teams at the club.
