Rolly Brings (born July 19, 1943 in Cologne ) is a German musician and lyricist from Cologne.

Life

Growing up in Cologne , he left his family at the age of 14 and went to sea. After returning home, he first earned his living as a laborer and then began an apprenticeship as a machine fitter at Ford . As part of the promotion of gifted students, he was able to qualify for admission to the study of pedagogy , successfully complete it and taught English, German and social studies for many years , most recently at the comprehensive school in Weilerswist .

As an active trade unionist and already in contact with music and singing from a young age, the records released by Rolly Brings and his co-musicians since 1986 deal with political issues, people from the working class and historical events such as the March Revolution . For its 150th anniversary, Brings published songs, texts and documents on a record. Today he mainly performs with his son and musician colleague Benjamin Brings (guitar, bass, vocals, percussion).

In the meantime, Rolly Brings reads from her own texts in front of an audience. In spring 2008 he played a supporting role in the independent film Hotep , some of which was shot in Cologne. Rolly Brings is the father of Peter and Stephan Brings, who play together in the band Brings , and Benjamin Brings, who is also a musician.
