On March 6, 2015 Romain Beney made his debut in Thyon in the Telemark World Cup with a 22nd place in the sprint competition held there, with which he was able to achieve World Cup points right away. At the end of his debut season in this series, in which he also completed the competitions in Mürren , he was 39th in the overall World Cup. The following year he regularly competed in the World Cup and took part in the Telemark Junior World Championship 2016 in Les Contamines-Montjoie , France , where eleventh place in the Classic was his best result. On February 28, 2016 in Bad Hindelang he was able to classify himself for the first time among the top eight in a competition as part of the World Cup by reaching the quarter-finals in the parallel sprint.
Even 2016/17 Beney belonged to the Swiss World Cup team. In addition, he took part in the 2017 Junior World Championships in Rjukan, Norway, and in the senior title fights in La Plagne , but was unable to win a medal. Things went better at the 2018 Junior World Championships in Mürren, when he first won the bronze medal in the parallel sprint and became Junior World Champion in the sprint on March 25, 2018. In the World Cup he finished 13th overall after the best season of his career to date .
