Romain Schockmel

Romain Schockmel (born 1961 or 1962) is a former Luxembourg handball player and is now a functional . He has been chairman of the Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Handball (FLH) since 2016 , and Schockmel's main profession is a surgeon .

Career

Schockmel studied general medicine at the Free University of Brussels . For his specialist training he switched to the University of Liège , where he specialized in the areas of thoracic and vascular surgery and later headed the relevant department at the university hospital for two years. As of 2019, he runs a practice in Esch and is chairman of the Association of Luxembourg Vascular Surgeons. In the 2017 local elections , Schockmel, who lives in the Steinbrücken district, ran for a seat on the Monnerich local council for the social democratic LSAP , but was unsuccessful.

Handball

Schockmel also played for the Hessian club TV Hüttenberg during his active time . As of the beginning of 2019, he is the only Luxembourger to have played in the top German league . 1981 Schockmel was appointed to the national team for the first time , a total of 48 international appearances there and threw 119 goals. In May 2016 he was elected President of the Luxembourg handball association FLH as a member of HB Esch . He succeeded Dan Epps , who had made his office available.
