Romain Thibault (born January 6, 1991 in Nîmes ) is a French football player .

Career

The striker Thibault grew up in Bouillargues near Nîmes and began playing football in 1997 at the local club US Bouillargues . A year later, the then seven-year-old was accepted into the youth department of the professional club Olympique Nîmes . In 2002 he moved to city rivals Nîmes Cheminot before returning to Olympique in 2004. For the 2010/11 season he moved up to the squad of the second division team, but without having a contract for them. In the following time he played mainly for the reserve team, but came on April 1, 2011 at the age of 20 years to his second division debut when he lost in a 0-1 defeat by FC Évian Thonon Gaillard in the 64th minute for Steve Haguy was substituted on. On April 22, he came into the game in a 2-2 draw against FC Nantes in the 86th minute and equalized in stoppage time with his first goal as a professional. Until the end of the season, more missions followed regularly, even if he came off the bench as a substitute throughout. He could not avert relegation to the third division, but was at the same time equipped with a fixed contract for the first selection of the club.

During the 2011/12 season he had to compete with Nîmes in the third division, but was hardly considered in the first team anyway. In 2012 he was promoted again and then he was regularly called up again, where he was in the starting line-up for the first time on August 17, 2012 in a 3-2 win against CS Sedan . In the final phase of the season, however, he was hardly on the field. In August 2013 he was awarded to the third division club FC Bourg-Péronnas in order to get more match practice. With the East French he was able to fight for a regular place in the following time, but was neither kept, nor did he find a place again at Nîmes.

In the summer of 2014 he signed with the fourth division club VF Les Herbiers and thus said goodbye for the time being to the professional area, which included the top two divisions. He did not take a regular place there and did not get more than three goals in his first year, but achieved promotion to the third division with the team in 2015. With the subsequent move to FC Hyères, he himself remained in the fourth division.
