Reason: Doubtful relevance / no relevance shown in the article: According to subscribers not even among the top 100 or 300 (place 307), subscribers or views are not a hard criterion for relevance anyway. The article is almost entirely covered by YouTube and Twitter. There is no external representation. The broad, long-lasting media reporting, which according to WP: RK # A is generally required for relevance, is certainly not proven . Lately only a few tabloids, which, among other things, try to use his mother's accidental death for clicks. In addition, the language of the article is very poor and much of it is a translation from English. (This is not a reason for deleting, but a general note.) In addition, some of the content in the article is factually incorrect. Apart from a few small reports, the Google search didn't reveal much either. Broad reporting failed. - ExtremPilotHD ( discussion ) 07:05, 19 Aug 2020 (CEST)

Roman Bernard Atwood (born May 28, 1983 in Millersport ( Ohio )) is an American YouTuber and influencer . He is best known for his YouTube videos. In addition to Pranks , which he uploads to his main channel "RomanAtwood", he also posts vlogs on his vlog channel "RomanAtwoodVlogs", on which he documents his life in over 1,600 videos. Roman now has over 25 million subscribers on both of his channels. He received a total of over 6.5 billion views on all videos on both channels.

Life

Roman Atwood was born in Millersport, Ohio to Susan Anne Christman and Curtis Dale Atwood II. Roman has always been interested in filming and producing videos, and he was already producing videos in high school. After his school career, he worked in his parents' rope factory and took on simple activities there. This led to Roman becoming increasingly dissatisfied with his life and finally decided to concentrate on his YouTube career.

Before he was successful on YouTube, he had already published other projects, including on YouTube. Roman Atwood's first notable production was a series called “The Nerd Herd”, a Jackass-inspired series of stunts and sketches. After that Roman founded the project called “Sketch Empire” together with his friend Jon, but these videos were never particularly successful and at some point they were discontinued and deleted.

At the age of 18, he married Shanna Riley, his first wife, with whom he had their first son, Noah Vaughn Atwood (born October 18, 2004). However, in 2008 he divorced Shanna after cheating on him with a friend while he was on a business trip. The divorce officially took place in 2010. After divorcing his ex-wife, he met Brittney Smith. She is the sister of Veronica Gilroy, the wife of Chase Gilroy, who was Roman Atwood's best friend at the time. With her he had their first child together in 2011, Kane Alexander Atwood (born October 23, 2011). That was around the time he made his breakthrough on YouTube with his prank videos. As he gained notoriety on YouTube, he made his "Smile More" motto a brand and started his own merchandising company. He sold T-shirts and similar merchandise from the living room at home.

With the success of his two YouTube channels and his own company, Roman has decided to move to a larger house in Thornville, Ohio , with his girlfriend and son . He lives there with his family and numerous pets, such as his husky “Flash”, his cats “Tux & Nitro” or his donkey “Empire”. You became known through his vlogs and can be seen regularly in them, alongside his family and co-workers.

In 2017 he had his third child Cora Atwood (born July 16, 2017), about a year later he married his girlfriend Brittney on Maui , after proposing to her on vacation together.

On May 29, 2019, Roman's mother, Susan Atwood, was killed in an accident while on a family vacation. Roman announced this via Twitter. After the accident, he continued to produce videos and was active on social media, but since early 2020 Roman and his family have disappeared from all social media without a trace.

It was not until July 7, 2020 that he returned via Twitter and announced a return. In what form and when this return would take place is not yet known.

Career

Pranks

The beginning of his YouTube career marked the beginning of the prank videos on his main channel RomanAtwood in 2011. The currently oldest video on Roman's channel with the title “Epic Cooler Prank” was published on April 15th, 2011 and has meanwhile approx. 6.7 million views .

Roman's breakthrough came with the first “Pee Prank” videos. Where he pretended to urinate in public with a water bottle.

Initially, the pranks were simple in nature and produced with relatively little effort. Over time, Roman Atwood has adapted to developments on YouTube and published more elaborately produced Pranks. For example, the “Crazy Plastic Ball PRANK !!” by turning his living room into a ball pit. The prank went so viral that it was used by Nissan in the “With Dad” advertising campaign for the XLIX Superbowl . This cooperation was awarded the title of the best “Brand Campaign” of the fifth Streamy Awards .

Vlogs

In addition to his prank videos, Roman Atwood has gained popularity through his vlog channel RomanAtwoodVlogs. There he regularly published vlog videos with the aim of accompanying his viewers in his daily life. Roman takes his audience with him to all events and documents them with a small, handy camera. The goal was always to publish vlogs daily and the longest series in which he succeeded lasted 449 days.

His vlogs were known to be very familiar as his entire family played a huge role in his vlogs. But his pets and other people who were often at home were also featured in the video. Many of the people associated with Roman are also YouTubers. For example, his younger brother Dale Atwood also produced YouTube videos and published vlogs for a while. His best friend Chase Gilroy has also followed the daily vlogging trend.

In addition to the familiar feeling, the vlogs were also known for many special experiences.

Social media and merchandise

In addition to his YouTube career, Roman Atwood is of course also active on other social media channels, for example he has almost 5 million followers on Instagram.

But apart from social media, Roman has been successful with his brand “Smile More” since 2013 and sells merchandising products all over the world. The company headquarters is in an outbuilding right next to his house. He employs many of his family members in his company. At the end of 2019 it was announced that the company would move.

Films & series

Natural Born Pranksters

Aside from his own projects, Roman Atwood has also co-produced a feature film entitled “Natural Born Pranksters”. One of the best-known advertising measures for the film was Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, who ran on the field in the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil, who wrote the film title on his body while he was walking on the field. However, the ratings for the film are rather poor.

trip

In addition, Roman worked with YouTube colleague Yousef Erakat , better known as FouseyTUBE, the “Roman vs. Fousey ”tour. The tour included a total of 19 performances in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. A documentary was published for the tour, which gave a look behind the scenes.

Roman Atwood's Day Dreams

At the end of 2017, a series entitled “Roman Atwood's Day Dreams” was published on the YouTube channel "RomanAtwoodVlogs". Access to the episodes is part of the YouTube Red premium offer . This is a reality TV series in which Roman gives young fans their greatest wishes. The program was created in cooperation with the Make-a-Wish Foundation , among others .

Legal cases

In the past, Roman Atwood has had a number of legal disputes. The reasons for this were diverse. For one thing, there was trouble because of pranks. He was sued for molesting the general public in 2014 and later acquitted.

The most prominent case is a legal battle between him and his ex-wife. This was about custody of their son Noah. Due to the legal dispute, Noah had to be kept out of his father's videos, which caused various hashtags such as #FreeMyNinjaNoah. Roman Atwood won the custody case and Noah has continued to be part of his vlogs ever since.

In addition to private legal disputes, there were also some, sometimes protracted, court cases between various plaintiffs and his company Smile More LLC.

In 2019, Roman Atwood was sued by Jerry Leigh of California, Inc. for an alleged violation of exploitation rights in the clothing sector. The case was dismissed by the court.
