Roman Jurjewitsch Lyaschenko ( Russian Роман Юрьевич Ляшенко ; born May 2, 1979 in Murmansk , Russian SFSR ; † July 6, 2003 in Antalya , Turkey ) was a Russian ice hockey player who worked for the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers in played the National Hockey League .

Career

Roman Ljaschenko began his career in 1995 with Torpedo Yaroslavl in the Vysschaya League , where he was under contract until 1999. As early as the 1997 NHL Entry Draft , the Dallas Stars selected him in the second round in 52nd place, for which he completed 139 NHL games. From 2002 to 2003, the Russian was on the ice 17 times for the New York Rangers . He was also used in the farm teams of the American Hockey League . In 2003, he was found dead in his hotel in Antalya after he committed suicide. He was buried in Yaroslavl .

International

With the Russian U20 national team Roman Lyaschenko took part in the Junior World Championships in 1997 , 1998 and 1999 . He also played nine games at the 2002 World Cup , collecting two scorer points.
