Romana Carén

Romana Carén (born January 2, 1979 in Vienna ) is an Austrian filmmaker , actress and singing teacher .

Life

After Carén graduated from the Camillo Sitte college in building construction, she studied law at the University of Vienna and astronomy at the University of Central Lancashire .

Carén has been on stage since she was eight years old. She completed her acting training at the Actor's Studio Pallas in Vienna and graduated with the state acting diploma from the parity stage commission. To continue her education, she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London . She made her debut in 2006 as Alice in Alice in Wonderland .

Even during her acting training, she was in front of the camera for various cinema, film and TV productions. Her filmography includes appearances in SOKO Donau , Tatort , Sisi and an episode of the television documentary series Universum History (2016).

In addition to her work as an actress, Carén is also a writer of plays, scripts and poetry. Her play Glückskampf 2007 premiered at the Off Theater in Vienna. Wintervögel followed in 2010 in the Theater in Drachengasse Vienna and in 2011 to be or not in the Off Theater. In addition, Romana staged the musical theater play Viva La Diva "(with Johanna Mucha and Julia Fürst) and the play Planet of the Meerkats (with Romana Carén, Elisabeth Halikiopoulos, Benjamin J. In 2010 she completed the Filmmaking course at the London Film Academy with distinction. Together with other graduates of the London Film Academy, she founded the production company Film'84 International. Her first short film Make a wish was shown in the Short Film Corner program at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival .

The script of her short film Where the wild roses grow was in the semifinals of the 22nd WriteMovies.com International Writing Competition. The film was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012 .

In 2016 she completed a postgraduate course at Raindance Film Festival, in collaboration with the University of Staffordshire , with a Master of Arts.

Romana is married and has two sons.
