The higher technical federal teaching and research institute Vienna III , own name: Camillo Sitte Bautechnikum , is a construction school in Vienna .
history
From 1846 management as a commercial drawing school (drawing institute). From 1880 the state trade school, from 1883 to 1903, the school was run by the urban planning theorist Camillo Sitte in the building at Schellinggasse HTL Schellinggasse in Vienna's 1st district and some parts of it moved to the 3rd district after the Second World War . But it remained a section of Schellinggasse.
At first only the building yard classes and a few other classes moved, including the HTL Flugtechnik, which later moved to the HTBLA Eisenstadt. After the redesign of the building complex by the architects Nehrer and Medek in Vienna, the departments for structural engineering , civil engineering and construction finally moved from 1982 to 1983 , and the school became independent.

Around 1,300 pupils and students learn the basics of building technology in Austria's largest building school.

Technical practical lessons at the school building yard. In addition, from 1956 the construction technology department for working people ( evening school , college and building craftsman classes ), as well as a cooperation with the FH Campus Wien (especially with the FH bachelor degree course in civil engineering - construction management ).
From 1962 on, the research institute for building materials was authorized by the state in 1972.
Research institute
The Camillo Sitte Research Institute comprises two departments:
- Department of Building Materials and Building Physics
- Department of Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics
The research institute is active in the elaboration of the building- related ÖNORMs , is an official testing and accreditation body, carries out building physics tests and measurements as a service, and conducts basic research on materials.
Camillo Sitte Symposium
A one-week Camillo Sitte symposium takes place at the Camillo Sitte Construction Technology Center at regular intervals. Each symposium has its own topic, on which projects are planned for each class. During this week, the students work exclusively on their projects, supported by the teachers. At the end of the week, the results of the project work will be presented.
The 9th symposium took place from February 28, 2017 to March 1, 2017. In cooperation with BIG , projects on the subject of "Room for the Future" were designed.
