The Rommerscheider Hof 2016

The Rommerscheider Hof is an old farm in the Rommerscheid district in the city center of Bergisch Gladbach . The first documentary mention of the Rommerscheider Hof comes from 1510. At that time it was owned by the Order of St. John , which had its seat in the Maltese Commandery in the Herrenstrunden district . The building, which is still standing today, is around 500 years old and is considered the oldest half-timbered house in Bergisch Gladbach.

In recent years, efforts have been made again and again to restore the house so that it can be inhabited, taking into account the monument conservation requirements. In 2016, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety provided federal funds of € 66,700 for renovation work. The new owner will use it to supplement his own funds and start renovating the property in 2017. Work has now started. It turned out that the farm is probably older than previously assumed.
