Ronald P. "Ron" Klink (born September 23, 1951 in Canton , Ohio ) is an American politician . Between 1993 and 2001 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ron Klink attended Meyersdale High School until 1969 . He later worked in the television industry. First he worked behind the scenes at a regional television station in Altoona . Between 1978 and 1993 he worked as a television reporter and weather forecaster in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. He was also a member of the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department and a board member of Forbes Road Vocational Technical School in Monroeville . He was also a partner in a restaurant. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party .

In the 1992 congressional elections , Klink was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Joseph P. Kolter on January 3, 1993 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2001 . In 2000, he renounced another candidacy for the US House of Representatives. Instead, he ran for the US Senate , but was defeated by Republican Rick Santorum .
