Ron Wallingford

Ron Wallingford (actually Ronald Wallingford; born September 13, 1933 ) is a retired Canadian marathon runner .

In 1964 he was third in the Boston Marathon , second in the Canadian Championship and won the Saint Hyacinthe Marathon. The following year he was eleventh in Boston and won the Holyoke Marathon and the Motor City Marathon.

In 1966 he finished sixth at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston and won in Saint-Hyacinthe with his personal best of 2:19:24 h.

The following year he was third at the Canadian Marathon Championships and sixth over 10,000 m at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg . A title defense in Saint-Hyacinthe was followed by victories at the Beaches Kiwanis Boardwalk Marathon and the Motor City Marathon.

In 1969 he finished sixth in the CNE International Marathon, and in 1970 he won the Toronto Police Games Marathon. In 1971 he was ninth in the Boston Marathon , won the Holyoke Marathon and the Eastern Canada Marathon and was sixth in the Marathon of the Pan American Games in Cali .

In 1956 he was Canadian champion over 5000 m and in 1959 and 1960 over 3000 m obstacle .

In 1976 he ran the Montreal Olympic Games marathon. He taught at Laurentian University and was a technical coordinator for the Canadian Athletics Federation. In 2009 he was inducted into Sudbury's Sports Hall of Fame .
