Ronald Austin Mulkearns

Ronald Austin Mulkearns (born November 11, 1930 in Glenhuntly , † April 3, 2016 ) was an Australian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Ballarat .

Life

Ronald Austin Mulkearns received on 22 July 1956 by Archbishop Justin Simonds Daniel the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Melbourne .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on September 5, 1968 Coadjutor Bishop of Ballarat and Titular Bishop of Cululi . He received his episcopal ordination on December 4th of the same year by the Archbishop of Melbourne, James Robert Knox . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Ballarat, James Patrick O'Collins , and the Bishop of Sale , Arthur Francis Fox .

With the age-related retirement of James Patrick O'Collins on May 1, 1971, he succeeded him as Diocesan Bishop of Ballarat.

On May 30, 1997, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation.
