Rong Yiren
Rong Yiren ( Chinese 榮毅仁 / 荣毅仁 , Pinyin Róng Yìrén ; born May 1, 1916 in Wuxi , Jiangsu Province ; † October 26, 2005 in Beijing ) was a Chinese businessman , politician and former Vice President of the People's Republic of China .
Life
Rong Yiren was a successful textile entrepreneur until 1949. After the Communists came to power , he gave his property to the Communist Party (KP). In the 1960s , Rong Yiren was subjected to the CCP's persecution at times. After Deng Xiaoping took office , he joined the government . It was Deng who nicknamed Rong "Red Capitalist"; he played a key role in introducing Deng Xiaoping's economic reforms.
In 1999 he was considered the richest man in China ( Forbes Magazine ). Several sons of influential party members are represented in leading positions in his company empire.
