The Rookery Lake ( English for breeding colony lake ) is an almost circular lake on the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is located at the western end of the Langnes Peninsula in the Vestfold Mountains .
The lake is part of a series of lakes in the Vestfoldbergen that at the Davis Station housed biologists as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions investigated. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it in 1975 after a neighboring breeding colony of Adelie penguins .
