Room77 (spelling: ROOM77) is a German pop-rock band from Rott am Lech . The trio's singer is ex-professional soccer player Andreas Görlitz .

history

The band began after a serious injury to Andreas Görlitz, which he suffered on November 3, 2004 in the Champions League game against Juventus Turin . During the rehabilitation phase, Görlitz taught himself to play the guitar. Andreas Görlitz then founded the then nameless band with his brother Markus, who took on the role of lead singer. The later band name Room77 is an allusion to the jersey number 77 that Görlitz wore at Karlsruher SC and to their own private studio in Rott am Lech, in which the band produces their own songs.

Shortly after the founding, Temren Demirbolat (guitar), Manuel Riesemann (bass) and Michael Kratzl (drums), and later Tom Nemeth (drums), joined the band. Room77 was regularly supported on the keyboards at concerts by Wolfgang Blechschmitt, who, however, was not a permanent member of the band.

After the band had initially only played cover songs in private , more and more of their own songs were created over the years. On November 23, 2009 the band released their first album at home , which was produced by Thomas Lichtenwalter. Due to the popularity of the guitarist Andreas Görlitz, the album moved to the fore in the media. The album was also reported in the sports media after reports had already been made on Andreas Görlitz's music project. The single Hope including the music video with Mario Gómez , Miroslav Klose and Philipp Lahm was released on December 22, 2009.

Since Andreas Görlitz continued his professional career first at FC Ingolstadt 04 and then at the San José Earthquakes , the band's activities largely ceased in the second half of 2012. After his return from the USA and the end of his football career, Andreas Görlitz decided to devote himself full-time to music in the future. Since the other band members did not have the time, he reorganized the band in 2015 and professionalized the structures.

Andreas Görlitz has been the lead singer and guitarist himself since then. He writes the English lyrics of the band himself and is ready to see some events from the eyes of others ( Someone Else's Eyes ) and to question social developments ( Same Old Lies ). The band is completed by Michael Eichele (keyboard, sound design, bass, backing vocals) and Juri Jangl (drums, backing vocals). PR professional Felix Seidel, whom Görlitz has known since playing football, takes care of the management.

In December 2016 Room77 released Burning Blue, the first single since the restructuring, and the accompanying music video was produced by the band with filmmaker Bogdan Kramliczek am Schliersee. The single already indicated a sound change that the band forced in the coming months. A symbiosis of analog and futuristic synths has given the sound a new look since then, without removing the pop-rock character with guitar, bass and real vocals that has always existed.
