Root Leeb

Root Leeb (born August 15, 1955 in Würzburg ) is a German writer, painter and illustrator. In addition to her own, Leeb has also illustrated works by other artists; She became particularly known as an illustrator and designer of the books by Rafik Schami and the German editions of the books by John Strelecky .

Life

Root Leeb lived in Veitshöchheim near Würzburg until 1965 , after which she attended a boarding school in Regensburg for five years. In 1974 she completed her school education in Munich with the Abitur and then studied, also in Munich, first German and philosophy ( MA ), then social pedagogy ( Dipl. Soz. Päd. (FH) ).

Root Leeb then taught German as a foreign language in Ingolstadt for two years before working as a tram driver in Munich for six years . Her first independent publication as a writer, the novel Tramfrau, Notes and Adventures of the Tram Driver Roberta Laub, was based on the experiences of this time .

Root Leeb has been married to Rafik Schami since 1991 . The couple lives in Rhineland-Palatinate and has a son.
