Founded in Heidelberg in 1992 , the RosaKehlchen are now an integral part of the stages in the Rhine-Neckar region and have long been a cult there. Several full-length programs have since been developed and successfully performed. The RosaKehlchen are now a registered association recognized as non-profit .

Since 1997 the RosaKehlchen have been a member of Legato, the umbrella organization for lesbian and gay choirs in Europe.

Together with the Queer Flutes from Freiburg and the Schrillmännern from Karlsruhe, admission to the Badischer Sängerbund was fought for in court in 2000 , which attracted attention throughout Germany. Even before the verdict was announced, there was great media coverage, for example DER SPIEGEL and Bild-Zeitung reported on the lawsuit. The judge from Karlsruhe also referred to this when he confirmed with a play on words during the pronouncement of the verdict that nothing now stands in the way of participation in the "Federal German chorale traffic". The Badischer Sängerbund, which initially appealed for revision, withdrew it and accepted the choirs.

In 2010 the music on the CD "Eine neue Liebe" was declared a relevant gay musical heritage by Ralf J. Raber when it was included in the documentary "Wir sind wie wir sind".

In 2013 the 21st birthday was celebrated with a concert in Heidelberg.

In 2014 the premiere of the eighth program "Major Tomm" was celebrated in Karlstorbahnhof as part of the Queer Festival Heidelberg.

In 2017, the 25th anniversary was celebrated in the Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg, as part of the Queer Festival Heidelberg. The anniversary was the reason for Südwestrundfunk to broadcast a report about the choir and its history in its second and fourth radio program on the same day.

In 2018, one of the largest Polish daily newspapers, Gazeta Wyborcza , reported on the pink throats in its Easter holiday issue as part of an article about Mannheim as a UNESCO City of Music .
