Rosa Lobato Faria

Rosa Maria de Bettencourt Rodrigues Lobato de Faria (born April 20, 1932 in Lisbon , Portugal ; † February 2, 2010 ibid) was a Portuguese writer, television and film actress and songwriter.

Life

She came from the lower Portuguese nobility, who came from the colonies and today no longer has any meaning.

She was a versatile figure who was important for Portuguese culture: she worked as a novelist , poet, lyricist, but also as a screenwriter, composer and actress for television, and as an actress for Portuguese film .

Many of the lyrics she wrote were written for fados and songs for the Eurovision Song Contest , such as Sara Tavares ( Chamar a Musica , 1994), Célia Lawson ( Antes do Adeus , 1997), and Tó Cruz ( Baunilha e chocolate , 1995).

She was the mother of 4 children and married twice, and was the mother-in-law of the famous musician and fadistas Paulo de Carvalho .

On February 2, 2010, Rosa Lobato Faria died of complications from severe anemia .

Some books have been translated into French, one ( Die Tränen des Luzifer ) into German.
