Rose Mary Magers-Powell (born June 25, 1960 in Big Spring , Texas ) is a former American volleyball player .

Rose Magers grew up in Texas and played for the Houston Cougars from 1979 to 1981 . In 1982 she was with the US national team third at the World Cup in Peru and in 1983 second at the Pan American Games in Caracas . In 1984 the middle blocker won the silver medal with the US team at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . Then Magers-Powell played as a professional in Japan with the NEC Red Rockets, with whom they won the Japanese championship in 1988. From 1991 to 1993 she played for league competitor Daiei Kobe , where she ended her active career.

Magers-Powell is also a volleyball trainer, from 1996 to 2013 with the Martin Methodist Redhawks in Pulaski , Tennessee and since 2014 with the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Huntsville , Alabama . She also founded the Rocket City Volleyball Club in Huntsville in 1994 , where she is the director and coach.

Private

Rose Powell-Magers is married to Harry Powell and lives in Huntsville. The two have two sons, William and Brandon.
