Rose Reimann-Hunziker (born July 14, 1912 in Basel , † 2000 ) was a Swiss gynecologist and obstetrician .

Life

Reimann-Hunziker was the daughter of the Basel city physician Hans Hunziker . She studied medicine and received her doctorate in 1939 from the University of Zurich with a medical history thesis on Felix Platter . She then worked as an assistant doctor at the Pathological Institute in Basel, in Münsterlingen and at the Basel Women's Clinic, before working as an FMH specialist in gynecology and obstetrics. She ran a private practice and worked at private clinics in Basel.

Reimann-Hunziker headed the first “consultation hour in Switzerland for birth control at the women's hospital in Basel”. She was “Chairwoman of the anti-tobacco association [,] board member of the Association for Women's Suffrage [and] member of the hygiene commission in Switzerland.” Her writings, among other things, “on 'Influences solar activity and weather conditions on thrombosis and embolism '”as well as sexual education had international influence.

Reimann-Hunziker was married to Gottfried Reimann-Hunziker .
