The Roseau River is a river on the west coast of the Caribbean island of St. Lucia . It bears the name of the bay of the same name.

geography

The river has its source in the center of the island in the area of the Anse-la-Raye quarter and initially runs northwards, with the border between Anse-La Raye and the Castries quarter following it largely along its entire length. Accordingly, the river often alternates back and forth between the two quarters. It is fed by the Millet River and is dammed up in the highlands by the John Compton Dam ("Roseau Dam" near Millet, ). It flows further north through the Dame de Traversay area , where the Ravine Posion with the Cul de Sac runs parallel to the north to the east. At Vanard it bends in a north-westerly direction and runs in the lower reaches partly with pronounced meanders to the sea and reaches the Caribbean Sea in Roseau Bay , a little north of Anse-la-Raye . Neighboring catchment areas include the Petite Rivière de l'Anse La Raye , Grande Rivière de l'Anse La Raye , Anse Galet River and Canaries River (in the south and east) and the Cul de Sac in the north and east, as well as the Dennery River , the flows to the east and flows into the east coast.
