Rosenball (Munich)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Munich Rose Ball , also known as the "Munich Rose Ball", is a charity ball that took place from 2003 to 2012 under this name. It is the direct successor to the " Orchid Ball ", which was carried out by the Munich City Councilor Wolfgang Vogelsgesang for over 20 years to preserve Blutenburg Castle . Vogelsgesang's daughter-in-law, Sabine Vogelsgesang, founded an association for the Munich Rose Ball in 2002 and has been supporting sick and needy children ever since. She passed away on August 28, 2018.

history

Charity balls have been held in Munich for many decades. All of these balls were named after flowers. So there is the chrysanthemum ball , the magnolia ball and, until the late 1990s, the orchid ball. As the successor to this orchid ball, the first Munich Rose Ball was held in 2003. According to tradition, it takes place on "Lumpige Thursday", the last Thursday in Carnival . Only in exceptional cases, such as in the extremely short Mardi Gras 2008, does he switch to another date. The Munich Rose Ball has been supporting "people in need, especially sick children" since the beginning. Many thousands of euros have been collected since 2003 and given to charitable purposes.

The venue is the Hotel Bayerischer Hof (Munich) .

The deputy Bavarian Prime Minister a. D. Christa Stewens has been the patron from the beginning. Guests at the previous balls included: Thomas M. Stein , Uschi Glas , Princess Ursula von Bayern, Patrick Lindner and Helmut Haller .
